If you made changes to your benefits during Summer Enrollment, your elections became effective on September 1. You won’t see how the changes affect your paycheck until October, however. What are some next steps?
Confirm your enrollments
When you get your October paycheck, check your benefit deductions. If you are concerned that your paycheck benefit deductions don’t match your SE changes, login to your ERS OnLine account and review your Benefits Summary. Does it reflect any changes you made during Summer Enrollment, as noted in your confirmation email or letter?
"If there is a conflict, first talk with your benefits coordinator or human resources office, said Cynthia, who works in ERS’ Customer Benefits division. “Your coordinators can help confirm if the elections you made are reflected accurately.”

"If you want to know how to choose a primary care provider or use dental or vision benefits, go the plan’s website. Remember that ERS’ main role during Summer Enrollment is to enroll you in the plans of your choice, said Cynthia. “We arrange to have your eligibility verified, but the best source for information about coverage and other program features is the third-party administrator (TPA).”
Submit EOI paperwork for life and disability insurance
If you applied for Optional Term or Dependent Term Life Insurance, or short-term or long-term disability coverage through the Texas Income Protection Plan (TIPP), make sure you return your evidence of insurability (EOI) paperwork to Securian Financial Group for life insurance and/or Guardian Life Insurance for disability.
After the company reviews your EOI application, they will contact you to let you know if you were approved for coverage. If you’re approved, your coverage will automatically begin and premiums will be deducted from your paycheck.
