September is a month for eating healthier. It’s Fruits & Veggies–More Matters month. This initiative was started by Produce for Better Health Foundation, a nonprofit organization that partnered with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention to help spread the word about the benefits of adding more of these healthy options to your diet.
According to the latest Dietary Guidelines for Americans, you can increase how many fruits and vegetables you eat by:
- filling half your plate at every eating occasion, including at snack time, with these foods and
- remembering that all forms of these foods—fresh, frozen, canned, dried and 100% juice—count toward your daily intake.
