The Employees Retirement System (ERS) benefits enrollment period for active employees and retirees not eligible for Medicare is almost here. You may make changes to your health, dental, vision, optional life and disability insurance and TexFlex flexible spending accounts during your Summer Enrollment phase.
Find out your agency’s or institution’s enrollment phase.
Any changes you make to your or your dependents’ coverage will go into effect September 1, 2020. If you don’t want to make changes to your benefits, you do not need to do anything; your coverage will continue.
Watch for your Summer Enrollment packet in the mail
You should get your Summer Enrollment packet in the mail about a week before your enrollment phase. The packet includes an enrollment guide and your Personal Benefits Enrollment Statement, which shows your current coverage and Plan Year 2021 premium rates.
You can find more information on the Summer Enrollment page of the ERS website.
Summer Enrollment webinars
To help ensure the health and safety of all employees, retirees and third-party benefits administrators (TPAs) during the COVID-19 pandemic, ERS is moving its Summer Enrollment 2020 events online.
Beginning the first day of Summer Enrollment, ERS will host morning and afternoon webinars throughout the Summer Enrollment period. You can watch the webinars from the convenience of your computer or other device.
ERS will offer general Summer Enrollment overview webinars, and there will be separate question-and-answer sessions on each benefit plan. There will be multiple webinars at different times during Summer Enrollment, so you will be able to ask questions directly to ERS and the TPAs like you usually can at a Summer Enrollment fair.
The webinar schedule will be in your Summer Enrollment guide. In addition, ERS will post it on the Summer Enrollment webpage and have details of each webinar on our online events calendar. We encourage you to check the ERS Summer Enrollment webpage and the calendar regularly.
