State of Texas Vision participants: Glasses.com and 1-800 Contacts join provider network

April 1, 2020

State of Texas Vision participants: you can now order glasses or contacts online and apply your vision insurance in one convenient step!

New network providers

The plan’s provider network now includes Glasses.com and 1-800 Contacts, along with ContactsDirect.com. You can order eyeglasses or contacts and apply your vision benefits to your purchase instead of submitting a claim later for reimbursement.

  • Glasses.com offers a large selection of prescription glasses and sunglasses. You can try on frames using an online “virtual mirror” or at home for up to 30 days with free shipping and returns. After purchase you can go to any LensCrafters store for free adjustments.
  • 1-800 Contacts and ContactsDirect carry contact lenses from all major manufacturers.optometrist holding out eyeglasses

All three vendors can answer questions by phone or online chat:

1-800 Contacts also offers a mobile app for uploading prescriptions, placing orders and setting reminders.

Remember to use your vision benefits before they expire! Participants enrolled in State of Texas Vision for Plan Year 2020 have until August 31 to use their benefits.
State of Texas Vision participants and their covered dependents can apply a $150 allowance per person per plan year to either eyeglass frames or contacts. (The allowance does not cover eyeglass lenses; lenses from network providers are covered after a copay.)
