After you leave employment, you may be eligible to continue coverage under COBRA for up to 18 months. Your COBRA continuation coverage is limited to the medical, dental and/or vision benefits you had when you left employment. If you choose COBRA continuation coverage, you will pay the full premium, plus a 2% administrative fee, directly to ERS. See rates for COBRA continuation coverage
A network-based point-of-service plan available statewide, administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. You choose a primary care provider (PCP) and get referrals for specialists. HealthSelect of Texas includes comprehensive prescription drug coverage administered by OptumRx.
A network-based, high-deductible preferred provider organization (PPO) plan available statewide, administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. The program includes comprehensive prescription drug coverage through the HealthSelect Prescription Drug Program, administered by OptumRx.
HMOs are available only to members who live or work in certain Texas counties, and their eligible dependents. HMOs are network-restricted health plans. Each HMO includes comprehensive prescription drug coverage administered by the HMO.
Please note: HMO's will not be part of the GBP offerings as of September 1, 2021.
Texas law authorizes ERS to charge a premium to any person enrolled in a Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP) health plan who uses tobacco products, including e-cigarettes and vaping products. Read about ERS’ tobacco policy.
