Internet Explorer no longer supported
July 06, 2022
You may not be able to access the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) website if your default browser is Internet Explorer (IE). After a nearly 27-year life cycle, IE’s manufacturer “retired” the browser in June and stopped providing support services for it.
If you’re still using IE and cannot access the ERS website, consider switching your default browser to one of the following options.
- MS Edge, which has built-in legacy support for Internet Explorer-based websites
- Chrome
- Safari (for Mac/Apple users)
Stop and ask
Some state agencies and higher education institutions still use Internet Explorer as their default browser. Before taking steps on your own to switch your work computer’s default browser, be sure to reach out to your employer’s information technology (IT) support team for guidance.
