Express Scripts Medicare (PDP) will be the administrator for HealthSelectSM Medicare Rx beginning January 1, 2024
In December, the ERS Board of Trustees awarded the contract for HealthSelectSM Medicare Rx and the HealthSelectSM Prescription Drug Program to Express Scripts Medicare® (PDP). The six-year term of the contract is Jan. 1, 2024, through Dec. 31, 2029.
What the change means for participants
Through Dec. 31, continue to use your current health plan ID card and contact UnitedHealthcare if you need help with your prescription drug benefits. In the coming months and during Fall Enrollment, ERS, Express Scripts and UnitedHealthcare will share details about the change and any steps you need to take.
Why ERS is making the change
ERS is required to rebid the administration of its benefit programs on a regular basis to ensure we are providing competitive benefits at a reasonable cost. Express Scripts’ proposal included costs that were considerably lower than the other bidders. In fact, Express Scripts’ bid was almost $470 million lower than the next lowest bidder, while maintaining current coverage levels and high-quality service.
In-network pharmacies
Express Scripts has a network of over 60,000 retail pharmacies you can use. For maintenance medications (medications you take long-term), you can get up to a 90-day supply at an Extended Days’ Supply Retail pharmacy or Express Scripts Mail Order pharmacy through Express Scripts® Home Delivery. Express Scripts has mail order for specialty medications with Accredo.
ID cards
As part of welcome kit, Express Scripts will send two ID cards per household to all current plan participants in December. Continue to use your current UnitedHealthcare ID card until Dec. 31.
Call center
Express Scripts call center is now available toll-free at (866) 264-4676 (TTY: 711), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Representatives can answer general questions about the transition, plan benefits, the new formulary and pharmacy network.
Plan website
Now through Dec. 31, Express Scripts’ plan website is available at http://www.express-scripts.com/ERSMedicareRx
Beginning Jan. 1, the website will be available at www.HSMedicareRx.com.
You can register for an account on the plan website beginning Dec. 1.
