As an eligible employee of the State of Texas, you have the opportunity to elect Voluntary AD&D coverage for yourself and your eligible dependents. This benefit provides additional protection for you and your family in the event of the employee’s or eligible dependent’s accidental death or certain accidental injuries. This benefit is in addition to AD&D coverage provided with Basic Term Life and Optional Term Life insurance.
You can choose from two levels of coverage: you only or you and family. Coverage is purchased in increments of $5,000:
- the minimum coverage available is $10,000 and
- the maximum coverage available is $200,000.
You cannot convert this coverage into an individual policy upon termination of employment.
Active employees can enroll in coverage within the first 31 days of hire or having a qualifying life event and during Summer Enrollment. Evidence of Insurability (EOI) is not required at any time to enroll. Voluntary AD&D is not available to former employees or retirees.
