The Texa$averSM 401(k) / 457 Program can help you achieve your financial goals. It’s important for you to routinely monitor your account online to reduce the risk of fraud and loss to your retirement savings.

To help protect your account, Texa$aver administrator Empower offers the Empower Security Guarantee, which will restore account losses that occur as a result of unauthorized transactions through no fault of your own.

Texa$aver accountholders should learn all the steps to qualify for the Empower Security Guarantee.

Here are a few of them:

  • Register your account. If you haven’t registered your Texa$aver account online yet or added a best contact email address for the account, log in to Texa$aver to set up or view your online account and update contact information. Add a mobile number, mailing address and preferred email address to the account. One good way to protect a retirement account is to provide current contact information. This will help Empower contact an accountholder in case of a security alert.

To update contact information, log in to the Texa$aver program account and navigate to “I want to…”, then select “Update personal information”.

  • Use multi-factor authentication. Texa$aver online accounts have multi-factor authentication that sends a one-time code to the accountholder’s phone or email when they try to access their account online. The code allows them to access their account securely. Multi-factor authentication requires access to another device, which improves the security of the account.

Note: It’s harder to hack a mobile phone than an email account, so accountholders should consider using text messages for multi-factor authentication, rather than email.

  • Monitor your account. Accountholders should log in regularly to review it, and make sure to review security alerts immediately.

If you notice unauthorized account activity, you should contact Texa$aver right away at (800) 634-5091 (TTY:711).
