TexFlex flexible spending accounts

If you contributed to a TexFlexSM flexible spending account (FSA) in PY23, now is a good time to double-check your FSA balance.

If you did not use all of your TexFlex FSA funds, you still have time. If you have a health care or limited-purpose FSA, there are a number of eligible products you can stock up on. The online FSA store is a good resource. Just be sure to keep your receipts. You can also view a list of common eligible expenses on the TexFlex website.

If you don’t spend the money in your FSA by Aug. 31, take note:

  • Health care and/or limited-purpose FSA participants: You can carry over up to $570 to Plan Year 2024 (starting Sept. 1, 2023). Any unspent funds over $570 will be forfeited. There is a minimum carryover amount of $25 if you did not re-enroll in the new plan year.
  • Dependent care FSA participants: Unused funds will not carry over. But you do have until Nov. 15, 2023 to spend Plan Year 2023 funds in your dependent care FSA. Plan Year 2023 dependent care FSA funds not spent by Nov. 15, 2023 will be forfeited.

For more information, please log in to your TexFlex account or contact TexFlex Customer Care toll free at (866) 353-9839 (TTY: 711), Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. CT or Saturday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. CT.

Group Benefit Plans

Your Texas Employees Group Benefits Program health, vision and dental plans cover preventive care like an annual physical, well-woman exam, eye exam, immunizations and screenings; eye exam and glasses/contacts allowance; and periodic dental cleanings and x-rays, respectively. Take full advantage of your benefits, if you haven’t already, by using them before the plan year ends Aug. 31.
